I will work for the country and people as long as I live:
Prime Minister
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, inaugurating the Patli
Canal re-excavation work in Cox's Bazar, said that the support of the people is
the strength of the government and that he will work for the country and the
people as long as he lives.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said that the support of the
people is our strength. So, as long as we have life, we will work for this
country and its people.
He said this at a short rally after the start of the work of
re-excavating the Patli Canal in PMkhali Union, Cox's Bazar on Saturday
morning. Stating that BNP does politics for the people, the Prime Minister
said, "The source of all power of BNP is the people. And the BNP
government wants to change the fate of the people of the country."Politics
He said, I saw in the newspapers that the price of nothing
has increased after this year's budget. Because the current government has
removed the tax on all essential items including rice, pulses, oil, salt from
60 products in the budget two days ago, so that the price of daily necessities
does not increase. Its purpose and goal is only one, so that the people of the
country can live well.
Stating that the opposition is opposing the proposed budget
to create instability in the country, the Prime Minister said, "The
opposition is saying that they do not accept this anti-people budget."
Tarique Rahman said, "Their (opposition) goal or
objective is not to stand by the people of the country. Their objective is only
one - to create instability and unrest in the country, to confuse the
people."
It is worth noting that last Thursday, Finance Minister Amir
Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury presented the budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 in
Parliament.
Meanwhile, at the beginning of her speech, the Prime
Minister asked the people present, "Why did you come here? To inaugurate
the Patlikhal re-excavation work. This canal was excavated by martyred
President Ziaur Rahman about 50 years ago. The excavation of this canal will
benefit 40,000 people. 8,500 farmers will benefit. That is why we have set a
target of digging 23,000 canals in the next five years."
She said, "Bangladesh is an agricultural country. But
along with agriculture, we must also give importance to industry and trade. If
industry and trade improve, our children will have employment opportunities.
They will be able to do jobs and trade. That is why we have increased taxes on
all the products that are produced in the country, but the same products that
come from abroad. We have included measures in this budget so that the
industrial factories that produce the products produced in the country get
support. This is also not the choice of the opposition party.’
He said, ‘I want to say, you are the owners of this country.
The owner of the country is not a political party, the owner of the country is
not a family, the owner of the country is the 200 million people of Bangladesh.’
The Prime Minister said, ‘The country belongs to all of us.
This country is our first address, this country is our last address. That is
why we say that if we build this country, we will be good, and our children
will be able to live in peace.’ Bangladesh Politics
He said, ‘If we cannot build this country, our children will
be in pain. Does anyone want their children to be in pain? No one wants us.
That is why we say one thing, we will do the work, we will build the country,
Bangladesh first.'
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Water Resources Minister
Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, State Minister Farhad Hossain Azad, Cox's Bazar-3
constituency MP Lutfur Rahman Kajal, local leader Harunur Rashid and others

re-excavation work in PMkhali Union of Sadar Upazila.
The Prime Minister got off the flight in the pouring rain
and came to PMkhali by road. Ignoring the rain, she inaugurated the Patli Canal
