Iran, US reach historic peace deal

The United States and Iran have finally reached a historic peace agreement, ending a long period of bloody conflict and intense diplomacy.

US President Donald Trump and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif made the announcement jointly on Sunday (June 14). The announcement was also broadcast simultaneously on Iranian state media.

Confirming the agreement, US President Donald Trump wrote on his social media account Truth Social, “The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all! I hereby give full authorization to open the Strait of Hormuz completely toll-free and at the same time lift the US naval blockade immediately. Ships of the world, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”

A few minutes before Trump’s announcement, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif made a similar announcement on the social media X (formerly Twitter). Shahbaz said, “After intensive negotiations, we are very pleased to announce that a peace agreement has been reached between the United States and Iran.”

He added that both sides have announced an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.
