Team scores 5 goals, coach loses job
The whole world is shaking with World Cup madness. It is not possible to say with certainty which team will win at the end of the 48-team tournament. However, the value of those who do well will increase as their coaches increase.
Many coaches will lose their jobs if they fail to perform as expected in the World Cup. But the Tunisia coach was fired before the World Cup started. The coach who lost his team's first match to Sweden's BPP 5-1 was fired.
TYC Sports reported that after the 5-1 defeat in the first match of the World Cup group stage against Sweden, the country's football federation announced that Sabri Lamouchi will no longer be in the team's dugout.
Tunisia will have to play against the Netherlands and Japan in Group 'F'. A big loss before the match against the two big teams means the exit bell will ring from the group stage. It was thought that Tunisia would at least take a break and fight Sweden, who came to the World Cup. The country's federation has vented its anger on the coach for failing to do that either.
Tunisia will play their second group match against Japan. Before that, the Tunisians will have to decide who will take on the role of coach and prepare the team. Tunisia appointed Lamouchi as coach on January 31. The former French footballer had a contract until 2028.
But Lamouchi was fired after winning one and losing three of his five matches in the dugout. The Tunisian federation may appoint an interim coach in his place. Wahbi Khazri and Mandhar Kebayar are in discussion.
