US : Plane crashes on US highway
One person has died after a small plane crashed and caught fire on a highway in Laredo, Texas, US.
The crash, which occurred on Tuesday night (June 16), caused panic in the area and temporarily disrupted traffic.
Local authorities said that one person died in the accident, but there were no immediate reports of injuries to any passengers traveling on the highway.
Laredo Police Department Investigator Jose Baeza said that the plane crashed on the Loop-20 highway shortly after 10 p.m. After the accident, traffic in both directions was closed for safety reasons.
A video circulating on social media shows the plane tilted and on fire after hitting a road barrier.
Highlighting the horror of the incident, Garza said, "It was like a movie. I was most worried when I saw the fire. Because the plane could have exploded at any time."
The relevant authorities have launched an investigation to find out the cause of the accident. Details about why the plane crashed on the highway have not yet been released.
Witness Zaira Garza said she saw the accident while taking her colleagues home. When she arrived at the scene, she saw a person inside the plane trying to break the cockpit window and escape. At that time, people in the area also came forward to help.
According to her, after a while, when the plane door opened, three people who appeared to be teenagers quickly got out. Behind them, a person believed to be the pilot also got out. Later, another crew member tried to pull an unconscious person out of the plane.
