Iran-US peace agreement signed, now look at implementation
US President Donald Trump and Iran have signed a landmark deal aimed at ending the long-running conflict in the Middle East. Both countries confirmed the signing of the agreement.
The signing ceremony was held at a dinner held at the Palace of Versailles in France after the G-7 summit. French President Emmanuel Macron was present at the event.
In a post on social media X after the deal was signed, McHone said Trump had signed an important deal between Iran and the United States. According to him, this agreement will pave the way for lasting peace in the Middle East. At the same time, there will be an opportunity to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which is important for international trade and energy supplies.
Makhon also said that this step is positive for the common people. As a result, he expressed hope that the price of fuel in the world market may start to decrease. Iran has also confirmed signing the deal.
Ismail Baghai, the spokesman of the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the final draft of the "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding" was signed by the presidents of the two countries. The most important thing now is to observe how the agreement will be implemented in practice. As originally planned, the agreement was to be formally signed in Switzerland on Friday. However, the document was signed at Versailles ahead of schedule. However, Iran said that the meeting scheduled in Geneva will be held as previously planned.
There will be discussions on various conditions and implementation process of the final agreement. The US and Iran now have 60 days to sign the deal. During this period they will negotiate and agree on the terms of the final contract.
Earlier on Wednesday, US officials read out various parts of the agreement in a conference call. According to the news agency AFP, many questions were being raised in the public mind due to the lack of information about the contract. It was under that pressure that various parts of the agreement were revealed. President Trump first announced the deal last Sunday. The official name of the agreement is ``Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran''. According to the agreement, ongoing military operations will be immediately and permanently halted everywhere, including in Lebanon.
Also, as per the terms of the deal, the US has promised to lift the naval blockade imposed on Iran within the next 30 days. There are also plans to restore international shipping to pre-war normalcy within the same period. The agreement also states that the United States will withdraw its military forces from the area around Iran within 30 days of the final settlement.
On the other hand, Iran will try to ensure the safe passage of commercial ships for 60 days. The agreement also states that no additional fees will be charged from the ships at this time.
The agreement is believed to bring an end to the nearly 110-day conflict. After the United States and Israel launched the first attack on Iran on February 28, the situation quickly turned to war. Tensions and conflicts continued in various parts of the Middle East for several months thereafter. The new accord is expected to bring an end to the war and return to regional stability and normalization of international trade and energy supplies.
