Modi looks polite but is actually a total killer: Trump

Donald Trump and Narendra Modi meeting at G7 Summit 2026

US President Donald Trump has said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi looks very polite but is actually a total killer.

Trump made these comments before the bilateral meeting of the two leaders on the sidelines of the G-7 summit held in Evian, France.

Trump said Modi looked 'like an angel' and appeared to be very gentle, but in reality he was a 'total killer'. But Trump used the word metaphorically. In other words, he said this to praise Modi's tough leadership and negotiation skills.

Referring to Modi as "very tough" and "skilled negotiator", Trump said that he has deep respect for this leader.

In the bilateral meeting, Trump said, 'Look at this man. I teach you a lesson. He is one of the most beautiful looking people. He looks so gentle and calm, like an angel. But in reality he is a total killer. But he looks so good that he surprises you. There are very few such people.

On this day, Trump also said, 'As long as I am president, India will get a true friend in the White House. Everyone here loves India and has tremendous respect for this man (Narendra Modi).”

Trump also referred to Modi as 'polite but tough'.

He said, 'People say he is a very good person. I say, he is very strict. He is a skilled negotiator. He loves the Indian people, and he loves the United States. We had a 'Howdy Modi' event in Houston. The stadium was full to the brim. We will visit India again in the future.

He said, "We had a very good discussion with Indian Prime Minister Modi." We are working on trade agreements. A lot is happening between the US and India. The United States is currently going through the best time in history. More than 19.2 trillion dollars of investment is coming to our country. We are building factories, doing various types of development. The Prime Minister is also investing heavily in the United States. We appreciate that. I just want to say, he has been my friend for a long time and our relationship has always been very good. It's nice to be with you.'

On the other hand, in the meeting, Narendra Modi praised Trump for taking initiatives to establish peace in West Asia. He also mentioned the 'new momentum' of India-US relations.

Modi said, "There is a new hope for peace and stability in the region." This, I believe, will pave the way for lasting peace. You and I agree that keeping the Strait of Hormuz open is critical to the global economy.'

He also said, 'India has always emphasized the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation. We should work together and give special importance to this issue.
